We comply with:
- The Privacy Act 1988 (Cth)
- The Australian Privacy Principles (APPs)
- The Tax Agent Services Act 2009 (TASA)
- Applicable state and territory privacy laws
As a Registered Tax Agent and professional accounting practice, we are bound by strict confidentiality and professional conduct obligations.
What Information We Collect
We collect personal and business information necessary to provide our services. This may include:
Personal Information — full name, date of birth, Tax File Number (TFN), address, email address, phone number, bank account details, identification documents (e.g., driver licence, passport).
Business Information — Australian Business Number (ABN), business structure details, financial statements, payroll data, superannuation details, employee records, trust deeds and company constitutions.
Financial & Transaction Information — payment details, invoice history, transaction records, tax return data, superannuation contributions, investment and capital gains information.
Digital & Technical Information — when you use our website or online tools, we may collect IP address, device information, browser type, website interaction data, cookies and usage analytics.
How We Collect Your Information
We collect information directly from you (via meetings, emails, forms, phone calls), through our website, through cloud accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, MYOB), from government bodies such as the ATO or ASIC, and from third parties with your authority (banks, brokers, financial advisers, migration agents).
If you do not provide required information, we may be unable to provide certain services.
Why We Collect Your Information
Provide Accounting & Tax Services, including income tax return preparation and lodgement, BAS/GST lodgement, payroll & superannuation compliance, SMSF administration, business advisory & structuring, and company and trust registrations.
Meet Legal & Regulatory Obligations, including compliance with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO), ASIC, the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB), superannuation regulators, and Anti-Money Laundering requirements.
Maintain Professional Relationship — to communicate updates, provide tax alerts and newsletters, offer service updates, and send appointment reminders. You may opt out of marketing communications at any time.
Improve Our Services — we may use aggregated, de-identified data for business analytics, quality control, service improvements, and internal training.
Disclosure of Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose your information to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO), ASIC, superannuation funds, banks or financial institutions (with your authority), our professional advisers (lawyers, auditors), cloud software providers, IT and data hosting providers, and overseas service providers assisting with back-office support.
Where we use overseas support staff (for administrative or accounting processing), we ensure appropriate confidentiality and data security safeguards are in place.
Overseas Disclosure
Some of your information may be accessed by our authorised overseas staff or cloud-based service providers located outside Australia. We take reasonable steps to ensure that any overseas recipient complies with privacy obligations consistent with Australian law.
Storage and Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification, and disclosure. Security measures include secure cloud storage, encrypted systems, secure client portals, password-protected databases, restricted staff access, and ongoing IT monitoring.
Despite best efforts, no data transmission over the internet can be guaranteed 100% secure.
Tax Agent Confidentiality Obligations
As a Registered Tax Agent under the Tax Agent Services Act 2009, we are bound by the Code of Professional Conduct. Unless legally required, we cannot disclose your confidential information to a third party without your authority.
Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing (AML/CTF)
Where FinCore Advisory provides a service regulated under Australia's Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006 (Cth) — a “designated service,” such as company or trust formation or ASIC agent services — we are required to comply with obligations administered by AUSTRAC, including completing Customer Due Diligence (CDD) before providing that service.
For these designated services, we may collect your full name, date of birth, occupation, and residential address; details from an identification document to prove identity (such as a driver licence or passport); ownership or control information for a company or trust (evidence of beneficial ownership); and information about the nature and purpose of the engagement and, where required, the source of funds or wealth.
This information is used to verify identity, assess risk, meet our legal obligations, and, where required by law, support reporting obligations to AUSTRAC. Consistent with OAIC guidance, we do not retain copies of full identification documents beyond what is reasonably necessary for AML/CTF record-keeping purposes, unless another law requires us to do so.
Routine tax return preparation, BAS lodgement, and general tax advice are not designated services and are not subject to these requirements. For more detail, refer to our AML/CTF Fact Sheet.
Quality Reviews & Professional Monitoring
From time to time, your file may be subject to internal or external quality assurance reviews to ensure professional standards are maintained. All reviewers are bound by confidentiality obligations.
Direct Marketing
We may use your contact details to send tax updates, business insights and service announcements. You may unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link, emailing us, or contacting our office.

Our website may use cookies to improve user experience, track website traffic, analyse visitor behaviour, and enhance service functionality. You may disable cookies in your browser settings.
Access and Correction of Information
You may request access to your personal information by contacting us. If any information is incorrect or outdated, we will take reasonable steps to correct it promptly.
How Long We Keep Your Information
We retain your information as long as required by law, as required under taxation record-keeping obligations, as necessary to provide ongoing services, and to resolve disputes or enforce agreements. Generally, tax-related records are retained for a minimum of 5–7 years.
Data Breach Notification
In the event of an eligible data breach under the Notifiable Data Breaches Scheme, we will notify affected individuals, notify the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC), and take immediate steps to mitigate harm.
